Course overview

The degree course in Industrial Pharmacy belongs to the class of Master's Degrees in PHARMACY AND INDUSTRIAL PHARMACY (LM-13).

Starting from the academic year 2023/2024, the course has become qualifying for entering directly the pharmacist profession. Therefore, graduates who enroll for the first time or who opt for the transition to the new qualifying program will automatically obtain the qualification to practice as pharmacists upon completion of their studies.

All five years of the course have been activated to allow currently enrolled students to opt for the qualifying pathway.

The then Faculty of Pharmacy in Pavia, now the course of study in pharmacy, was the first to be established in Italy in 1933, and since 1966, the course in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, one of the first CTF courses in Italy, was established. Thus, it is one of the two historical courses of our University, which since 2014 belong to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

CTF is a multidisciplinary educational pathway aimed at providing knowledge and skills to operate, with a high degree of qualification, in all sectors directly or indirectly related to the conception, development, production, and control of pharmaceuticals, food products, health, and wellness. The course focuses primarily on chemical, biological, and pharmacological disciplines. Graduates in CTF, due to the nature and breadth of the educational activities provided, possess an excellent mastery of the scientific method of investigation and a pronounced ability to independently develop, finalize, and apply original ideas or procedures in very diversified contexts.

The faculty teaching in the courses of study in Pharmacy and CTF include 82 members, 43 of whom are part of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and 9 hold specific teaching contracts. They are professionals from within the University or from the corporate world, to whom teaching contracts are assigned to provide students with the necessary elements of professional and industrial culture.
